  •    Here's what it means to you:

    RUS borrowers must certify by Board approval that they have completed an initial Emergency Restoration Plan (ERP) addressing critical facilities and assets by the deadline. There has been confusion by some about exactly what is to be covered by the Plan. Is it Information Systems, the Electric System, or the whole Business Enterprise? The scope actually goes beyond all three of these and extends to the community infrastructure that is served by your system!

  •    Many of you have technology deployed to increase performance and accuracy of necessary functions like billing, engineering, service restoration and customer services.  In many or most cases an overall reduction in cost or gain in efficiency was identified which lead to the decision to install these systems.

  • Demand Management - Once Again Time?
  •    Has your cooperative operated a load management program in the past that controlled water heaters, HVAC systems, pool pumps and/or irrigation systems? Is it still effective? Are you (re)considering load management to avoid capacity purchases as the generation "capacity bubble" goes away and the cost of energy increases? Typical programs allow you to avoid building or buying new capacity by "clipping" your demand during the peak. They also allow you to defer energy use which could move the loads into a lower cost regime.
