TechAdvantage 2005 is being held in conjunction with the NRECA 63rd Annual Meeting in San Diego, California, February 23 through March 2, 2005. Robert Duval, Vice President with EnerVision, will be presenting "Using Field Computers to Enhance Operations" on Friday, February 25th, from 10:15 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

·  Complying with RUS Emergency Restoration Plan (ERP) Requirements: What Does it Mean?

  

Here's what it means to you:

By July 12, 2005, affected co-ops (all RUS borrowers) will have to complete an initial Vulnerability and Risk Assessment (VRA) of critical facilities and assets. By January 12, 2006, co-ops will have to draft an Emergency Restoration Plan (ERP) that details the processes by which they will restore critical facilities and assets in the event of a disaster. By January 12, 2007, co-ops must conduct an initial ERP exercise.

This basic question is one that many co-ops are now facing whether the co-op and/or their G&T - power supplier is part of a regional transmission organization (RTO) or not. Transmission capacity is becoming more scarce at a time when many are attempting to diversify their sources of supply.  This limitation narrows the choice of supply and increases deliverability risks, both in reliability and in costs.
