EnerVision to Present at NRECA Tech Advantage 2004

TechAdvantage 2004 is being held in conjunction with the NRECA 62nd Annual Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, February 12 - 16, 2004. Darrell Powell, Lead Consultant with EnerVision, will be presenting "IT Strategic Planning - The Basics" on Friday, February 13th, from 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

Darrell will also be making a presentation, "Navigating the Puzzle of Disaster Recovery Readiness Planning", during Tech Day - Saturday, February 14th, from 2:45 p.m. to 3:10 p.m. in Room 218 of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

If you plan to attend the NRECA events in New Orleans, we encourage you to include these presentations in your many activities and also stop by EnerVision's booth #324 during the Expo - February 13 - 16.

·  Are Cooperatives Big Enough to Shop in the Power Market?

  

Yes, cooperatives are big enough to shop in the power market.  Some may need friends along to get the best deals, but the market is no longer the exclusive playground of the large buyers and sellers.  Not too long ago, the "market" consisted primarily of 2 types of business arrangements: 1)  Transactions between larger utilities - who owned generation; and 2)  Transactions between larger utilities and the smaller utilities - including cooperatives, municipals, and smaller investor-owneds - that were physically within the geographic area controlled by the larger utilities.

·  Are You Getting the Most from Your Load Management System?

  

Is your load management system delivering maximum benefits for your cooperative? With the increasing costs of natural gas and the renewed emphasis on demand-side management, electric cooperatives are taking a hard look at load management as an asset for better controlling power costs and mitigating risks in the wholesale power markets. Even if a cooperative has low capacity costs in the power market due to current market conditions, maintenance and restoration of an existing load management system are often justifiable based on energy prices (due to higher gas prices) and market risk reduction.
